ATI 2015 bootable recovery wants to recreate partitions when recovering incrementals?

Thread needs solution

System failure after Windows 10 update, full backup restores with booted restore media. Is the same standalone recovery environment able to restore the incrementals? When I select the first incremental after the full, the location needs to be set and that causes a partition delete and recreate. There are three incrementals to restore. Depending on where you read in the forums, either I have to restore each incremental in turn, or select just the most recent incremental.

Guidance would be appreciated, Ira

Ira, if you have a Full disk & partitions backup along with 3 Incremental backups based on the same full backup, then you only need to select the latest incremental backup and ATI will recover the whole backup version chain.

There is no need to attempt to restore this type of backup chain in the order in which they were created as this defeats the purpose of each restore by requiring a disk wipe each time!

No incremental can ever be recovered in isolation - a complete version chain is needed or else the incremental is not recoverable.
