ATI 2015 Build 6613 performance observations

Thread needs solution

Following the upgrade from build 6525 to 6613, the following are my observations running a desktop and a laptop running W7/64:

1] The ability to mount was trashed and I get the message "Cannot assign a drive letter to a partition from the backup archive".

I restored back to 6525 where mounting was OK only to find that too is now affected. Searching for "Cannot assign a drive letter to a partition from the backup archive" shows this problem has been quite common throughout time and apparently there is no resolution. Perhaps it might settle and anyway Windows Explorer gives access.

2] So now I am back on 6613 and there have been problems with backups completing with DellBackup_full_b1_s1_v1 with what appears to be a shadow copy of DellBackup_full_b1_s1_v1 - 2. I take this to be some form of corruption. After many attempts I managed to get a clean DellBackup_full_b1_s1_v1.

3] As a result of 2] I tried reinstalling and Acronis Cleaner. One point to note is prior to using Acronis Cleaner, both DD12 and ATI2015 need to be uninstalled otherwise DD12 will not reinstall. In the end I had to do an Acronis restore and then try again. However the situation in 2] repeated - I am using 2 external USB3 drives and only one had the problem.

4] 6613 recovery media includes a link to DD12 if you have it but there is still a problem seeing one of my 2 external USB3 drives. I still use the modified boot media for ATI2015 Build 5539 where there is no problem.

5] I notice on my account that there is no download link for ATI2015 Build 6613 nor any earlier versions. However deploying a copy of ATI2015 Build 6525 Install I have gives a link to a 6613 download from somewhere.

6] Soon I will be running the "free" Windows 10. What joys to come..............
