ATI 2015 no longer responds to BACK UP NOW
I have ATI 2015 backing up my Microsoft Surface Pro 4 incrementally every Sunday evening. That had been working all along until last night.
When I opened up ATI is showed a stuck UI trying to compute the estimated time to backup completion. From the taskbar icon it indicated a 52% progress but won't move ahead. I issued a cancel command to it but no response either. I eventually disconnect the backup destination drive (USB) and rebooted the whole computer. The supposed backup file (incremental) for last night's activity was originally marked 0KB but ended up approximately 15GB but was useless since ATI recovery UI does not list that date on it's backup versions drop-down list. So I deleted off that last unrecognised version file.
Now ATI does not respond to the BACK UP NOW button. It highlights on mouse hover, but no action on mouse click. I do not know what's gone wrong.
More info: likely unrelated but I observed some recent DistributedCOM errors (not aligned with the timing of ATI backups) regarding lack of permissions to run properly
The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
{D63B10C5-BB46-4990-A94F-E40B9D520160}
and APPID
{9CA88EE3-ACB7-47C8-AFC4-AB702511C276}
to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.
From what I gather that CLSID is Windows' runtimebroker.exe, which appears to be a helper for UWP apps. So probably nothing to do with ATI.
So what might have contributed to making ATI "comatose" at this stage?

So, it took a second reboot of the system to "wake" ATI out of it and finally respond and perform a backup.

Aaron, sorry to hear about the problems you have described above but glad to hear that you now have your ATI 2015 responding again and doing a backup.
With regard to moving topics to different forums, only one of the Acronis moderators can do that.
