ATI Echo Workstation Build 8353 - Different TrueImage.exe files
Solving the "E0000101F4: Failed to read data from the disk" error uncovers another software development problem.
Your ATI Echo Workstation v9.7.8353 may have an obsolete version of TrueImage.exe that causes numerous problems. To Acronis' shame, both the original and the new version have the SAME version and build number!
Let me explain: The distributed version of ATI Echo Workstation, build 8353 comes with an apparently defective version of TrueImage.com (dated 6/23/09, 14,369,424 bytes). If you experience problems, one of the recommendations made (at http://kb.acronis.com/sites/default/files/content/2005/12/1514/failed.to_.read_.html) is to download trueimage.zip, unpack it, and replace trueimage.exe in your installation.
That "new" version of trueimage.exe HAS THE SAME VERSION NUMBER. The date and size are different, however: 7/2/2009, 14,479,441 bytes. The fix works, but Acronis, please adopt elementery good practices in your software development. Having two files of the same name and version number that are, in fact, different, just creates confusion when trying to debug problems.
Please have the professional integrity to change the "File Version" when you change the code (e.g., "v9.7.0.8353a"), so we who have to support your products don't have to spend time discovering which date and size is "current" and/or installed.

Dmitry,
You may also want to search in this forum the subject "ATIEW Build 8398 still broken!" and address the bugs below:
1) Rescue media freezes at the screen where you select your archive location for a disk backup or restore. This happens for any USB flash drive, not USB external drives or internal drives. I also tried all the command line fixes mentioned in both old and new forums, and this still goes unresolved. This is the same hardware I have been using since build 8163 and have tried it on multiple same hardware setups and different computers with the exact same result every time. Broken after build 8206.
2) Using the management console for a restore operation, the reboot button will only reboot the remote computer if no applications are running. Build 8163 could do this. To get around this, I have to run a pre command to shutdown any running processes. We have a transponder reader that is always running.
3) Fix the spelling error and bad translations for the restore step for Windows NT signature for both the rescue media and windows installation.
4) The bootable rescue media in the iso file in the Acronis account is still build 8353 since build 8398 was released.
5) Fix the downgrade option in the Acronis account where you want to downgrade Acronis B&R 10 AW license keys to Acronis True Image Echo Workstation. This is missing and does not work per your kb article 3175. It shouldn't take Oleg Lee in the B&R10 forum to get me this while nothing gets done with my case number. I'm not interested in AB&R 10 now and may never be.

Hi Carol. You might want to check out this thread: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/7026
I fell in to the trap. I replaced some files with ones from article 1514 that fixed a problem. I "assumed" these updated files would be part of build 8398 and they were not. By upgrading to Build 8398 I put problimatic files back on and negated the fixes done in article 1514.
On the same line I agree that Acronis needs to get their act together on revisions. The case has always been that updated files are included in newer builds. Nowhere in article 1514 did it state that these fixes were "custom" and would not be included in later builds... poor, poor

WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD THE TrueImage.zip FILE? WHEN CLONING TO NEW HARD DRIVE I GET CAN'T READ SECTOR ERRORS, AND STOPS COMPLETELY AT 43% WHEN COPYING THE PARTITION ON THE OLD HARD DRIVE.

Hello Richard,
Let me assist you.
First of all, pleas be aware that the archive is applicable only to Acronis True Image Home 2009 and Acronis True Image Echo software, but you have Acronis True Image Home 2010 (as I can see from your account).
In you case I may recommend yo check the drives for errors:
- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd);
- Enter the command:
chkdsk DISK: /r
where DISK is the drive letter of the partition you need to check. Please note that checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.
Please reply to this thread if you need any further assistance.
Thank you.
