ATI hangs trying to mount image

Thread needs solution

ATI hung trying to mount a newly created image on an external hard drive on my Windows 7 64bit PC. The 'Assigning drive letters' dialog stayed on screen interminably. I could not cancel it even after exiting the main ATI application. Could not turn off Windows or my PC. Could not access Task Manager or use Ctrl-Alt-Del. Eventually had to switch off PC at system main switch.

Curiously, Windows 7 can itself mount the image in Explorer, show and make available the folders and files it contains.

Any suggestions?

One thing you might try would be to disable your Anti-virus and firewall before attempting to mount. This disable could be temporary while doing some testing.

I had a very similar experience and found the problem to be my eSet Anti Virus. My solution was to add TrueImage programs to the list of programs to bypass in scans. Once I added TrueImage to the eSet allow list, the mount procedure would work correctly.
