ATI Home 2010 breaks networking
Had a WinXP box fail in hardware, so last week, I replace the hardware and restored the OS from a backup image -- using ATI Home 2009. Have simple file sharing turned on so all my client machines and read all the "server's" drives.
Then, thought I would upgrade to 2010 (build 7046).
Almost immediately, networking stopped!
I could still see the shared drives, but attempting to open a drive or any folder from any client machine produced the "insufficient resources ..." error message. I am familiar with this and experimented with different IRPStackSize settings. Nothing worked.
Even found a forum thread here that said to set the IRPStackSize to 18. Did that. Still no networking.
Uninstalled ATI Home, rebooted the machine, full networking restored.
IF there IS a definitive solution to this, I'm willing to try it; otherwise, I will need to install a product that does NOT break networking.

I went to about 24 or more. I also did it on all the machines on my network to be sure I got it.

Hello,
thomasjk and Seekforever, thank you for your help, you are correct.
Mark, let me assist you further.
The problem is that Microsoft Lanman Server has a fixed limit on the quantity of filters it supports. Since Acronis product installs some filters to work, the total number of filters can exceed the server's limit. The same problem may occur after installation of an Antivirus product and is described in the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 177078.
Please refer to the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 177078 for a workaround (also applies to Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008).
If you create the IRPStackSize value as described in Step 4 in the Microsoft article, the default value will be 15. It is recommended that you increase the value by 3. Then reboot and see if it works. If it does not, increase the value by 3 again (to 21, for example) and reboot again. If you get to 50 and it still does not work, the issue is most likely not caused by the IRPStackSize value.
Please reply to this thread if the issue still persists or if you have any additional questions.
Thank you.
