ATI Home 2010 does not show the D: Drive in this system when doing Disk Backups

What build of TI 2010 are you using, and what operating system? Are you running under Windows or some form of bootable media? If using bootable media, what type? Have you tried the downloadable ISO image bootable media availiable from your account? Do you have the Plus Pack (to be able to try a WinPE bootable media build)?

Other questions, since what you are trying to do is not fully clear.

Is the "D: drive" you refer to a separate partition on the same physical device as the "C: drive", or is it a partition on a different physical device than the partition you refer to as the "C: drive"? In other words, it TI able to detect one physical device, but unable to detect a separate physical device, such as an external USB drive?

Build 7046, Windows 7. I'm not trying to recover, just trying to set up a backup from the main backup window in Acronis, i.e. "backup your computer". Not using any bootable media, etc. I do have access to the Plus Pack I guess, but i have not installed it yet. It won't show me the D: drive which is on a separate physical drive.

Another thing I noticed is that when I was setting up the backup, which was going to a network drive, I got an warning dialogue that indicated that my Destination and Backup were on the same drive, even though quite clearly they were not.

Hve you made any form of recovery bootable media (for instance, via the bootable media builder in the TI installation, or by the downloadable ISO image file available from your account)? This should always be done, and the functionality verified, prior to doing any kind of backup. If you NAS is not showing from withing TI running under Windows, there is some kind of driver issue. You should see if the NAS shows up when running from bootable media, since this is the environment under which recovery will take place. But the fact that your network drive is not showing up under Windows is a bit troubling, especially since TI 2009 must have had no problem. I can't offer any great suggestions. Perhaps someone else will be able to - someone with more network experience with TI than I have (which is none).

The D: drive in question is not an NAS drive. The NAS drive is the M: drive and it shows up quite nicely as a possible destination for the backup. The D: drive is a Samsung 200 Gig SATA drive in the same physical case as the C: drive.

Okay, I solved the problem. Apparently Acronis 2010 will not show you Dynamic Volumes UNLESS you have Plus Pack installed. Once I installed Plus Pack, the D: Drive was there ready to be backed up. Not sure how the drive ever got formatted as anything other than a Basic drive, but there it is.

Glad this worked out. Yes, the Plus Pack is what enables dynamic volumes (WinPE ISO bootable media creation is another part of the Plus Pack). I could have pointed out the dynamic volume support had I known. Sorry for the delay. I see now that I was confused into thinking your "D:" partition was a network location, rather than trying to be backed up to a network location.
