ATI Home 2010 Setup/Install problem

Thread needs solution

I downloaded and installed the ATI 2010 Home Trial version on my Windows 7 (Home Premium 64bit) computer. Everything seemed to be going fine. I initiated my first backup. As part of this procedure the software wanted to restart my machine. During the restart, I noticed that there was some activity that looked like my drive was being repartitioned. At this point I realized this software was doing a little more to my computer than what I expected. Nonetheless, the let it finish for fear of what might happen if I interrupted the process. Despite letting the process continue, my machine would NOT boot up. I simply got to a black screen (pre-POST) and the boot process hung. The only way I could get past this was to disconnect my drive (couldn't boot to a recovery CD because the hang was pre-POST). In the end, I ended up installing my drive in an external enclosure so I could at least copy my important files. I then had to re-install (no recovery techniques worked -- I got close, but never was able to cleanly boot up Windows).

I really want to try out this product but I'm certainly not going to install it again after spending several hours getting my machine back in order from the first installation attempt UNLESS someone can offer an explanation on what happened and how I can avoid it from happening again.

Any ideas?
