ATI Home 2011 Plus Pack cannot find Linux drive

Thread needs solution

Hello,
I'm just trying to create a drive image from a Linux drive (Tivo UK Series 1) but the bootable media comes up as 'The Disk is Empty'. Does this version supports Linux drives?
Hope you can help.

Thanks,
Mike.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tivo's_Media_File_System is not ext2 ... ext4 , nor is it reiserfs, so you could back up them only in sector-by-sector mode... if tivo had standard (MBR or GPT) partitioning scheme, but it uses its own proprietary partition map.

TiVo uses a Host Protected Area (HPA) on the disk to hide the partitions from most normal tools; that's why ATI thinks that the drive is empty.

These guys http://www.dvrupgrade.com/dvr/stores/1/ (Software Tools tab) have software that can create a copy of a TiVo disk. I've used it myself and it works well. Also, check out their forum http://www.dvrupgrade.com/forums/index.php if you want to have fun installing new software on the unit for remotely accessing your DVR, etc.

Thanks all for your help.
Mark, I guess you are talking about the InstantCake software, but which version do you use as I cannot see my model listed (Thomson PVR10UK)

Thanks

Mike:

I had a DirecTV SD-DVR40 manufactured by Hughes. Perhaps you could email the company or post on their forum to see if anyone has the same model as yours.
