ATI Home crashes my Win7 computer

Thread needs solution

I just installed ATI Home 2010 from download and paid for it. It hangs my computer to the point that not even CTL/ALT/DEL works. When I can get it running, it hangs the computer shortly after starting a disk backup. I have to power off. I've reinstalled but no success. When I downloaded it, I was promised a 30-day return, as well as a free plus pack. No plus pack that I can find, however, given my lack of success and the difficulty of reaching tech support, I'd like a refund. How do I get that if phone lines aren't available?

Before you give up on it, get the computer up and running then do msconfig at a command prompt and disable any True Image entries in the StartUp. Restart and see if things are any better.

Kurt,

Buy a product called Active@Boot,
http://www.ntfs.com/boot-disk.htm
which once burned to a CD or Flash drive, will give you all the tools you need to edit anything on your drive, manage the partitions, as well as image and restore the drives, and change the partitions. I have been using it for about 1 year, and it everything it does works, boots on any OS. You can use this tool to boot from CD and fix your installation, if you know your way around windows.

I disabled 2 TrueImage entries in msconfig/dstartup and bebooted. I ran ATI again with same result as before, complete hang. I power-cycled and checked the log. The #7 and #8 entries were "Pending operation 143 started" and "Locking partition C:...". I had to power cycle again. Don't know if it matters, but I'm backing up to my C: drive, which is a RAID0 setup.

BTW, my understanding is that tech support is free for 30 days, but the only way to get a phone number is to enter a credit card on the support website??
