ATIH 2010 Consolidation and Date Macro

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I have noticed that when ATIH 2010 does consolidation it renames all the files with the current date. Please see the ones for 22-April-2010 below to see what I mean - these were all done on separate days.

Also from the directory listing below you will see that the consolidation did not consolidate the oldest backup in the directory and there are a lot of "old" backup still there. To remove these I think I will have to delete them manually. (All the backups in this directory have been created with ATIH 2010).

The directory is set to consolidate when it has 100GB+ of data.

Because the backups now all have the same date knowing which day one wants to restore in the case of a disk failure and having to use bootable media looks like it will be an interesting task. This is also not helped in general because the date macro expands yo DDMMYYY rather than YYYMMDD so file listing is not chronological.

Has anyone else noticed this and are Acronis looking at this issue or should I report it along with the other issues I already have open?

I haven't seen the dates change format, but at a guess those images dated on the 22 Apr 2010, looks as though the imaging process was interrupted at some point, hence each slice of the image having a time stamp very close to each other. Though here again something doesn't look quite right, because if your system can image 12GB in a minute, I'll buy it off of you! :)

If you Explore the image you should get the proper date stamp folders.

From the CD it should report the image date once selected..

If you decide to delete any of these makes sure you do it from within the Windows based version (assuming you made the images from within Windows).

Are you using build 7046?

Hi Colin,

I am using build 7046 and that was the result of a consolidation - I watched it happen. However I cannot prove it as the log files do not contain enough detail.

Using Build 7046 you may also want to try "refresh backups" as the option when running offline from the CD but !!!be warned!!! on my system it deletes the XML database for both the offline and windows versions!

After that it seems all sorts of funny things start happening when you backup with a validation step.

Hello,

Colin, thanks for the assistance.

RayG, I'll do my best to help you. I'll transfer your request, but we need some additional diagnostic information from you to investigate it.

1. Could you please let me know where do you store your backup archives (internal/external drive, shared folder, etc.)?

2. Could you please collect AcronisInfo output and attach it to your reply to this thread?

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Hi Ilya,

I think all the above will be covered by the information attached to case 00646426.

If you take a look please let me know if there is anything else I need to do.

Thanks

Hello RayG,

I'm really sorry, but the case you've mentioned is about the validation and there are no attachments with it.

So could you please re-send the requested information once again to me via Private Message?

Additionally, could you please confirm the steps you've taken:

1. Create some certain number of backups to internal drive and set consolidation to run after the folder size exceeds 100GB

2. After that, consolidation was preformed and @date@ macro was changed to the current one.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

Hi Ilya,
