ATIH 2010 on Intel X58 - does it work for you ?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I am spending now 1 month with tech support to get recovery cd running and we still work on that issue. I have received 2 debug mode enabled CDs (linux based) and still no luck.

INTRO (can skip)
============
MY Hardware is:

- Intel x58 chipset, ICH10R chipset,
- Intel i7 920 CPU
- NVidia 8800GTX
- 12 GB DDR3 OCZ platinum ram

QUESTION
=========
How many of you here have I7 CPU with X58 chipset AND restore CD (Linux based) is working for you as it should work (all hard drives available, can restore images and can reboot system successfully after restore)?

Please drop a mail I must know...

I need to know above answer to understand whether it's my hardware that is somehow deviating from all other X58s.

Thanks.

I guess you miss the dynamic drive support from the Acronis 2010 plus pack (also know as lack of access support for achi enabled discs)

I know about + package and dyn drives, etc ,etc.

My question remains, does ATI2010 (without + package) works on Win7 X58 Chipset ? For how many people have it working ?

Hi Petar,

I have X58 chipset with I7 980X. I can boot with error (see my post: "Shared Library Error libpcap.so.0.9.4 unable to open file. No such file. No such directory" Error when booting recover CD ), but am unable to restore image. Within the software I can make a backup but cant validate it or mount the image.

So Acronis, what are you going to do with users who can't have your software working ?

I don't see any "yes" answer in this thread. So for me it looks like your product is not what it's advertised.

Would you rather:

- Make a build that works on Win7 X58 (dyn drives.. etc, etc,) and extend a yearly license for the period passed since you made it working ???
- Refund ?
- Forget about those users... they already paid, so who cares ...

Please reply.

Hello Petar,

Thank you very much for your post.

Please accept my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience.

I have found your open case with us and we are still working on a solution. We have involved our Expert team as well.

I will also notify our Management team so that this issue is resolved to your complete satisfaction.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Thanks. I am curious of Acronis management decision as this kind of issues does profile the company.

It's been around 2 months that we started this discussion, now I would like to make restore of one image, but I still can't do it as bootable cd doesn't boot nor finds my hard drives.

Could you please reconsider doing refund or sending bootable cd based on WinPe ?

TIH 2011 (sorry, I missed buying 2010 by 1 day) worked fine for me, last night.
X58/i7/6GB.
Not using dynamic drives, though. All logical drives/partitions.

Thanks that's good to hear!

Acronis, please provide restore CD from release 2011 in compensation for release 2010 that is not working for me.

Thanks.

I used the latest boot CD from the site and not the one created by the software and that worked for me. I also no longer got the "Shared Library Error libpcap.so.0.9.4 unable to open file. No such file. No such directory" Error.

Please tell me exact name and version that you are using (mine is AITH2010 version 4.102). Are you sure your pc's config is same as mine (X58, ICH10R) ?

H Petar,

Yes my PC config is the same. Its an ASUS P6X58D Premium MB. The version of the Software AITH2010. the bootable media version is build #7046. Where do u see that version 4.102 so I can check that?

I also have the same problem with slightly different result. My motherboard is Asus Rampage III - with the x58 chipset and my destination drive is Kingstone 128gb in Raid 0 configuration. The source is Seagate SATA drive - no problem with TI with this drive. I have tried cloning, resulting in non-bootable drive, then I tried image restore - Windows boots, errors out and re-boots in a loop. Booting from Bootable rescue media results in True Image 2011 not even seeing my SSD drive.

I have an EVGA X58 with i7 920 - I had no issues other than the known bugs on xp. I switched to Win 7 and then I had issues with VSS errors showing up in the Events. Nothing like the errors you're indicating, but I'm not running Raid. I just yesterday upgraded to 2011 and I don't really like it. They took a lot out from what I see.

-I have Ubuntu 10.04.1 which works well and recognizes all hardware perfectly.
-At the same time Acronis restore CD that is based on Linux can't even startup.

Questions to support:
- What linux kernel version your boot cd is using ???
- I can start Ubuntu CD live. I would like to start your restore environment from Ubuntu instead from your boot CD. How to start your software from Linux ?

Thanks.

Ok, here is some news.

I got custom build restore CD from Acronis (provided by Sergey). It has updated linux kernel.

All my x58 machines now boot well with that one. I am still having some problems with recognizing marvell controller though, but at least I see ICH10R disks correctly.

If someones experience problems like I described, maybe this is way to go for you as well.
