ATIH 2011 and Windows 7: Takes FOREVER to validate after backup?

Thread needs solution

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit with ATIH 2011, which I was informed was FULLY compatible by Acronis. When I have a backup set to validate automatically after creation, it backs up okay, but the validation says it will take 10+ hours to over a day. Obviously, this is a problem. If I stop the validation and do it manually, it takes about 30-35 minutes, which is normal for the amount of data I've backed up. I've also had this problem in ATIH 2009 and version 10.0. Those were both running with XP. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

Scott,

Do not trust the time estimate of the validation. Let it run to completion. You will probably see a normal time at the end.

Scott,
Posting multiple times on the same issue is not necessary and will actually slow your resolution. As you are within your 30 days of free support, you are eligible to fill out a support ticket and get official help from Acronis but this requires action by you. Most of the people responding on the forum are volunteers so if you need official support, you will need to fill out a support request.

As Pat has already indicated, the time approximation by the program is subject to all types of interferences and should be ignored.
The validation will occur on all pieces of the chain so in many cases the backup will be much quicker if only creating an incremental or differential backup but the validation will occur on all pieces of the chain.

If on a network or a separate disk storage device, this can also cause delays until you find what is causing the delay.
