Quite simply, I back up daily using "incremental mode", and always validate after backup.

Just recently the validation has started taking hours rather than minutes, but when I use the Linux recovery version of the software I can validate the 100 GB in 15 minutes.

Can anyone suggest why ATIH 2011 is so inefficient when running under Windows?

Stand easy everyone!

I moved the SATA cable onto a new header ten minutes ago, and the validation is back to its old speed.

I imagine that there was some driver corruption in Windows affecting the Acronis drivers, that was by-passed by using a different SATA address.
[The drive had passed the manufacturer's tests with flying colours. So much for those tests!]

Very odd indeed, but this cannot be the first time such a thing has happened.
