ATIH 2012 Fatal Error During Update Install - The system cannot find the file specified

Thread needs solution

I just installed my new SSD as my C: drive on my desktop. I need to install Acronis True Image Home 2012 now so I have it to make backups with. I installed the release version of ATIH 2012 from a disc image I burned to a DVD. So after I installed the base Acronis I tried to apply the latest update. It starts to install just fine and then stops due to a fatal error "The system cannot find the file specified." Error code: 0x00620002+0x01f...

P.S. I also installed the latest version of the Plus Pack without a hitch.

PLEASE HELP! I have no idea what else to do...! I've attached the error Log file. I also forgot to mention have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with SP1 and my Acronis build is 7119.

I'd down load the installer from acronis.com (login, go to product updates) and run the installer and select repair option if it is offered. usually plus pack has to go on after ati (plus pack is last on/first off.

If that doesn't resolve problem, unistall PP, then ATI, run the cleaner

http://kb.acronis.com/content/24545

then install ati,
then PP.

Best to not have other stuff running during any of this to avoid conflicts during install. Use msconfig

http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/

I recommend the above procedure anytime you want to update to a different build or version. Often updating a build can go right over an existing install, but when it doesn't work, it's a headache and it's easier to put in an extra few mnutes up front and do the uninstall install.

I have this exact problem, and it doesn't change regardless of whether it's a clean install, an install over an existing product, or whether anything else is running in the background. Did anyone find a solution?

DaggetBeaver,

Did you try this:
- uninstall 2012,
- run msconfig to disable all non-microsoft services and all startup items,
- reboot,
- reinstall 2012. See if the problem has disappeared.
- If it did, put the msconfig settings back to where they were. If ATI is running as expected, you solved it. Otherwise, there is a software/driver conflict.
- If the problem subsist, this is a more arcane DL/Registry issue and only Acronis support can help you fix it, I am afraid.

SOLVED! On as whim I decided to re-run the installer and this time it worked. I still had all the non-MS services disabled as recommended above, but I left my (Norton 360) firewall and AV turned on.
