ATIH 2012 Recovery Hangs
I did a full partition backup before changing my disk from MBR to GPT so I could dual boot win7 & 10. So I screwed something up and the disk is not bootable. I put in the ATIH recovery USB stick, booted up and ATIH now hangs at the Backup/Recovery screen. Neither the mouse or keyboard is responsive.
Is there anyway to get ATIH to get the my hard drive to work?

Update:
Using Dell's Reinstallation Disk I was able to reformat the drive back to MBR and restore the base OS. I reinstalled ATIH 2012 and am trying to restore the partition from the latest backup.
New Problem:
I start the partition restore process, select the backup file from the USB drive but after the PC restarts an error message displays saying it couldn't find the selected .tib file and my PC freezes. The only solution is to push the power button to force a shutdown.
Any suggestions?

David, how are you starting the partition restore process? This needs to be done from the ATIH 2012 Rescue Media and not from within Windows, plus as I mentioned in my earlier post, the boot method for the Rescue Media needs to match the way your OS boots.
See web page: Check if your PC uses UEFI or BIOS to confirm which mode your OS boots.

I did confirm the boot method is BIOS and the partition is MBR.
When I boot from the Rescue Media and select ATIH, the process starts, several lines of text appear and then the system hangs; how long should I wait for the process to start or should the next screen come up right away?
If I can't get the rescue media to work I would like you opinion on a plan I have. We have 2 PCs with exactly the same hardware mine (PC A) and my wife's (PC B). Could I attach the hard drive from A to B as a 2nd drive along with the external drive with the .tib files, reboot from PC B's drive. Install ATHI 2012 and then restore from the external to PC A drive within Windows. I'm just not certain if 1) it would work and 2) after moving back A's drive would it be bootable.
I do appreciate all your help and advice.

David, can you try booting your other PC from the ATIH 2012 Rescue Media to see if it works on that machine?
If it does, then you could try what you suggested to connect your hard drive to that machine along with your external drive without the need to install ATIH 2012 on that computer.
If the rescue media still doesn't work, then please check that you have the very latest build version 7133 - you can download this from your Acronis account as a CD image .ISO file if needed.

It went a bit further but when the backup and recovery screen comes up neither the keyboard or mouse work. However the mouse works to get into ATIH on the first screen. I assume both should work when B & R comes up right?

David, how are your mouse and keyboard connected to your computer? You may need to try a different method, i.e. if you are using USB 3.0 then connect to a USB 2.0 port, or use a PS/2 mouse & keyboard if you have the ports and these devices available.
See KB document: 6260: Keyboard Navigation in Acronis Bootable Media
Please be aware that ATIH 2012 is now very old in respect of current computer systems hardware and OS support.

I've tried moving them to different usb port but no luck. So I went with my plan (what did I have to lose).
I did a full partition recovery using PC B and according to ATIH everything was restored...however now I'm getting an error in Windows Boot Manager and need to use the Windows Installation Media (which I don't have since it's an OEM version from Dell). It seems I'm getting closer...would a Win RE disk possibly get the disk to boot?

David, as you have a second PC, assuming it is running Windows 7 then you can create a System Repair Disc as per the instructions below:

That's exactly what I did and 10 minutes later my system was back up and running. The 2012 version was the most current when I bought the PC so I didn't expect any of these types of problems but will be upgrading to a newer version very shortly. AND will test the restore process after I get a full partition backup...which I should have done before I started messing with the hard drive. Lesson learned the hard way.☺
Thanks for all your help.

David, glad to hear of a successful outcome and thanks for feeding back the results.
