ATIH 2014 restore operation causes reboot of laptop and does not restore.
Hi, I have ATIH 2014 and am trying to restore a full backup. The full backup was made from the original hard disk drive in my Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop. That drive died and I have now replaced it with the exact same model of hard drive. Nothing else has been changed on the laptop. I booted to the Acronis rescue CD and set up the parameters for a restore (see attached pic). Acronis began the restore operation but the laptop rebooted after the restore was about 5% completed and I was back to square one. Attached is a pic of the progress screen about 10 seconds before it rebooted. Then I did a "validate" operation on the .TIB file but again the validate operation caused a reboot of the laptop at the 5% completion point. When I made the back up last year I checked the option "validate backup when it is created" and as far as I can tell it is a good .TIB file. After the restore operation failed I installed win xp from a microsoft distribution disk and ran chkdsk on the replacement hard drive. Chkdsk reported that the hard drive had no bad sectors and it appeared to be in good working order. I have the external hard drive which contains the .TIB file on an external powered USB hub because I thought that the external hard drive's motor might be drawing too much current from the laptop's USB port and causing the reboot. However the rebooting still happens with the powered USB hub. Might anyone have an idea why Acronis is starting the restore operation yet causing a reboot shortly thereafter? Thank you.

Brandt,
I used to run ATI 2014 under Windows 7, so I may be able to help.
I'll state up front that I don't know what is causing the reboot. That said, looking at your first image, it appears you are performing a "partition" restore. I believe you should perform a "disk" restore. I believe that Windows 7 has 2 hidden partitions and if those partitions are not restored, then even if your restore is successful, the disk probably won't boot.
So, my recommendation is to try a disk restore and see if that will complete.
