ATIH Restore Speed with Flash Drive

Thread needs solution

I'm using ATIH 2011 and have been restoring an image stored on the same physical drive (7200 rpm) the data is being restored to. For example, I boot from a restore disc, access the image stored on a logical D: drive and restore to the logical C: drive.

Currently, the restore process takes about 13 minutes.

I was thinking of purchasing a Corsair Flash Voyager GTR USB 3.0 flash drive, storing the image on the flash drive and then restoring from that flash drive.

1) Would this be a faster restore configuration since ATIH wouldn't have to read and write to/from the same physical drive ?

2) Would ATIH be able to access a flash drive when booting off a restore disc ?

It is not good practice to store the image on the same disk, even on a different partition. If your disk dies, you are out of luck.

1) Not necessarily faster, as Flash drives have wide performance range, mostly much slower than internal disks,
2) Yes, it should. As usual, nothing is guaranteed until you actually try it.
