ATIH version11 doesnt recognize MYBOOK 2Tb ntfs FIREWIRE drive (while windows xp does)

Thread needs solution

ive been using ATIH v11.8.10? (didnt write it down, thats from memory) successfully now for years where i have successfully backed up to and restored from MYBOOK 500Mb drive using FIREWIRE interface.

this past weekend i opened my MYBOOK enclosure and replaced the former WD 500Mb sata drive with a newly ntfs formatted WD 2Tb sata drive.

the newly modified MYBOOK, when attached to my Windows XP computer - behaves totally normally - it mounts when plugged in. it dismounts via 'safely remove hardware' windows system tray icon. it copies files to/from the drive. and additionally, when using ATIH version 11 (when executed from the Windows ATIH application) it EVEN BACKS UP AND RESTORES FROM THE DRIVE.

the problem i am having is that when i run ATIH version 11 from the Acronis bootable cd-rom [i assume which boots to a form of Linux] (that was included when i purchased the program) - under this circumstance the drive is NOT RECOGNIZED! ive tried it in 'standard' and 'safe' modes - but neither mode is able to recognize the FIREWIRE drive.

this concerns me as if my boot drive were to die, the only way i would be able to restore it from a backup would be using this cd-rom. this puts me in a precarious situation here.

i know that what ive done by replacing drives in the MYBOOK is a little bit of a hack, but i cant think of any reason why this in itself should cause any problem. the problem is obviously somewhere in the Linux version of ATIH - as ATIH works fine with the drive when executed as a native Windows application.

any help would be truly appreciated.

thanks,

greg

Greg,

You are right, it is because of the Linux version of ATI. Unfortunately, you hare using an old version of ATI. V11 precedes 2009, wichi preceded 2010, 2011 and 2012 (now available).
You could download:
- do a full backup of your system,
- uninstall v11,
- install the trial version of 2012,
- produce a recovery CD with it,
- see if that CD works. The 2012 should be able to restore images done with v11 (try to restore a couple of files to be sure).
You can then decide what you want to do.
