Attempt to Open the Backup File Failed
My backups are failing because the program claims it cannot open the backup file. I can go to the location and open it without difficulty, so I'm puzzled why backups should consistently fail with this error.
Log reads:
Failed to prepare data stream. Check whether the source and target partitions exist.

Where is the backup located? Is it on an external drive?

One cause might be that Windows may have changed the drive letter to your storage disk--such as caused by the insertion of a flash drive or camera, etc.

The error indicates a path resolution problem, could be as Grover suggest or a host of other reasons. Check all connections. If target drive is connected via network try rebooting your network devices. Examine all path entries looking for irregularities, any noted should be corrected.
