Automatic Consolidation not working

Thread needs solution

Hi

I have True Image 2009.

I have a back up task set up but have found that it's not consolidating my number of backups.

The system is setup to do one full and two differential, one full and two differential - limit of 6 backups before conslidation.

By the time of the 7th backup TI09 just keeps going and starts another full backup. By that point my back up disk (1TB) is too full and the back up fails.

What do I do to make this work?

What more information is needed?

Thanks.

Hello Jennifer,

I understand the issue and in order to explain you the source of it I have written the whole process of automatic consolidation below.

Acronis True Image Home performs the automatic consolidation according to the following scenario:

   1. Identifies the oldest slice in the chain;

   2. Detects the next relative slice created after the oldest one;

   3. Creates a new archive that will contain the data stored in the original ones. If both of the detected slices contain the data with the same sector IDs, the data from the newer slice will be placed to the new archive;

   4. Associates the new archive with the rest of the chain;

   5. Deletes the older slices after the consolidation is complete.

You see the program first create backup archive, in your case it’s 7 backup and only after that deletes the oldest chain. There is not enough room for 7 backup archive and that is why you receive the error message.

You can either reduce the number of backup archives before consolidation take place or free enough space on the destination drive so the program can create 7 backup archive.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank You.
