back-up: 14% in 20 hours

Thread needs solution

I am currently trying the Acronis True Image Home 2010

I have an external 1.5Tb drive connected to my wireless router via a USB port.
I have 2 internal HDD on my PC
I am trying to back up my 2 HDD on the external disk.

I am now 20 hours in the process and only have 14% of the job complete. Looking at the current size of the .tib file it is about 50GB.

Is that expected? Am I doing anything wrong?

Thanks

Expect no slower than about one GB per minute. If you USB is recognized as USB 1 isntaead of USB 2, then it will take as much as ten times longer. Still that would mean aobut 50GB in about 8 hours not 20. So I think something is wrong here. I'd check either of two things first:

See if the results are the same if you use the BootCD instead of starting the backup form within win -- or if you're using teh Bootcd, then try starting it form within win (the two methods use a diff OS and diff drivers.

Run a chkdsk on your hdisks tomake sure there are no files system issues that are slowing things up.

Oh my. As a new poster, I would have quite some difficulties to understand what Scott Hieber said... - no offense intended.

You said "wireless router". You don't try to transfer all your data via wireless LAN, do you?
Even with wired LAN 100 megabit/second, it takes for my computer with its 250 GB hard drive about 6 hours to do a full backup. And that is if I only use about 120 GB of the disk. (The actual backup file is around 90 GB.) I guess the respond times of the hard disk are very long via LAN, and that is causing it to be that slow. But I didn't check that.
