back up and temporary store of files

Thread needs solution

If I change a file 5 times a day, will ATIH2011 back up the file after each change? I currently would like to set it for Daily backup to run at 9PM for specific files/folders, but need to have the backups to save unlimited revisions of my files as well.

Also, if my external hard drive is not connected during my scheduled backups, nor times after editing files...is there a temporary location ATIH2011 backs up to until the external hard drive is connected?

Please advise if there is a setting for these two questions.

Greetings E,

Thank you for your post, we appreciate your time and effort to create this thread.

Please accept our apologies for being unable to respond sooner. I will gladly address questions from hereon, and assist you with any issues should the need arise.

We do have a feature in Acronis True Image Home 2011 by the name of Nonstop Backup that picks up on the revisions made to a file and creates a version of it alongside the initial version. The underlying engine recognizes changes made to the file through the partition layout and instantiates the backup of the revised file in the background. Nonstop Backup saves the different states of the file with five-minute intervals providing protection for critical data. However, please note that Nonstop Backup detects changes made to a file only after having saved it, as the different states are tracked on the partition, therefore disk-level, and not on the memory-level. Additionally, only changes that were made to the file are backed up, as opposed to backing up the file anew, thus bringing significant advantages such as storage space optimization and backup speed efficiency. For more detailed information on Nonstop Backup and how it works please see the respective Knowledge Base article.

Additionally, to enable Nonstop Backup and find out more details about the feature in general, please see this Knowledge Base article.

As scheduled backup tasks support several options for backing up data upon specified days, weeks, months, and more importantly, upon specific events set by the User, you are able to secure the backup of your data in cases of unforeseen interruptions of backup tasks. Should your scheduled backups not perform due to external drive connection issues or simply that the drive is disconnected, you may specify during the Scheduling phase to have your backups "Run when current device is attached" under the Advanced Settings for your daily backups. This will ensure that your backups are carried out upon detecting your external hard disk drive and resume from where it had left off, so you do not miss your scheduled daily backups. Please see the corresponding Knowledge Base article that shows you how to specify the required settings as mentioned above.

Should you have any difficulties enabling Nonstop Backup or setting the required scheduling settings, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Feel free to write to us with any additional questions or issues you may have, we will be happy to be of assistance.

Kind regards,

Volkan
