back-up corrupted with Acronis 11

Thread needs solution

Good morning,
I have been using Acronis 11 until now without any problem.
The back-up proccess runs up to th e validation which ends with errors.
the configuration :
desktop with XP SP3 with latest updates.
Acronis 11 build 8 107
desk top configuration :
disk 1 : partitions C and D
disk 2 : partition E
back-ups made on external USB disks (usb-1, or usb-2)
these disk have been re-formatted and verified for errors before starting the back-up

test cases :
Acronis under Windows on desktop:
A - back-up C+D on usb-1 : errors on back-up validation
B - back-up C+D on usb-2 : errors on back-up validation
C - back-up C+D on disk 2 : back-up validation OK
Acronis under windows sp3 + on a laptop :
D - back-up on usb-1 : back-up validation ok
E - back-up on usb-2 : back-up validation ok
Acronis stand alone (bootable disk ) on the desktop :
F - back-up C+D on usb-1 : back-up validation ok

I have no idea about what created this behaviour.
thanks for the comments

Any hardware changes on the PC from when it last worked and now?

Are you changing the cable with the drive and using the same ones in the laptop test? In other words, is it a cable problem|

Bad RAM can cause the problem. Run memtest86+ V4 from www.memtest.org - best to let run for an extended period of time such as overnight unless errors show up immediately. There should be no errors at all.

Are you using the same USB connectors on the machine that you always do? Rear connectors because of shorter cable length tend to be more reliable. Any hubs or other USB devices in use that weren't there before?

The TI recover CD is Linux so memory mapping and "timings" will not necessarily be the same as in Windows.

It's a process of elimination.

I ran the memtest as suggested : no error found.
I suspected a usb hub , and tested TI directly wthith the disk connected to:
a rear connector : same error,
the hub : same error,
to an other rear connector : same error.
The only change on that machine since I found the error is that I changed the disk C for a larger one . This new C: was cloned from the original one using the clone function of TI.
I cannot believe that this upgrade has created the new behaviour of TI 11 .
I will reload TI 11 and I will borrow TI 2010 from a friend
to see what happens.
