Back up image of ssd

Thread needs solution

Greetings everyone..I just made the jump to a ssd in my system.I did a clean install of windows 7 and have all the updates and files .Now I want to make an image of my ssd to save on my back up drive to have in the event the ssd dies.So that I can get the new ssd and just restore the saved image to it and be functioning again . Can I do this ? I saw the clone drive option but I thought that was to clone your existing drive to a new one .I just want to have an image in the event it the ssd dies I will have all the info to make the new one work without having to redo the install of windows and all the updates ect ..So am I right in thinking just make a back up image ? I have Acronis True Image HD 2013 that I got when I got my OCZ Vertex 450 .. Thank you in advance for any info.

Absolutely you can do this! :)

Yes, you would create a full disk mode backup.

Check out the many user guides and tutorials in the left margin of this forum, particularly Getting Started and Grover's True Image Guides which are illustrated with step-by-step screenshots.
In particular: 29618: Grover's new backup and restore guides http://forum.acronis.com/forum/29618

Thank you Tuttle for your response :) I wasn't sure if I would be able to .So this would be a complete image of the current drive ? When I made the image , the file was just 9.33 GB is this smaller due to the better compression Acronis uses ? And if the ssd kicked the bucket,I would just put the new ssd in and do the recover and all would be good again ? I wouldn't have to reactivate windows ? Sorry for sounding like a broken record, and thank you again for your time with this :)

Yes, yes and yes, as long as you create a full disk mode backup. See the guides I linked.
