Backed up and restored a full back up

Thread needs solution

I wanted to make sure my back up was successful so I restored one that I created yesterday and all went fine. My question is when I looked at the backup I created on my external hard drive it showed 3 Stars out of a possible 5. Why would my back up only be rated 3 stars? I made sure to check the vlaidation box after it was completed.

Thanks

Ignore the stars the same way you ignore the ATI gui Message about "have no backups" when you know that you do have backups--It's what's known in technical terms a froo-froo (or in French, frou-frou). Just ignore it.

It's been that way since the inception of the warning/status system. It only takes into account scheduled backups--so when it says yo have no backups what it really is saying is that it hasn't recorded any scheduled backups in its database. Of course scheduled backups are meant to be run automatied not from within the gui so the warning is made to be seen when you're not looking at it -- go figure. I figure if Acronis was going to change it, Acronis would have by now. It's relatively harmless, more so if you learn to ignore it, just like the star ratings.

The stars aren't usefull because with backups you need a pass/fail rating system, which you have by doing validations, not a graduated system. So, I say again, It's relatively harmless, more so if you learn to ignore it, just like the star ratings.

Often times, posters on the forum indicate they have a full backup when the reality is that they only a backup of some (but not all) partitions on the disk.

One way to assure you have included all partitions is to open Windows Disk Management graphical view and it will show all the partitions. Then boot from the TI CD and simulate doing a restore of that backup. After the backup is selected and you get to screen as to which partitions are available for restore, the backup screen should list all the same partitions as seen in the graphical view of Disk Management.
