Backing up C: drive

Thread needs solution

In order to create a “mirror image” of the C: drive in an external drive, which could be used in the event of a hard drive failure, I am using Backup > My Disks > New Archive > Full Backup. The result is a folder titled “My Backups” that holds a file titled “System_C_10_16_10.”

Am I doing the right thing?

Thank you.

It sounds like the result is ok if you want a backup of your Drive C only. This could be used to restore your Drive C in the event of a virus or system corruptiono.

However, if you want a backup which you can use to create a new replacement disk, then redo a new backup and checkmark the disk option so all partitions are included in the backup.

The recently created backup may contain all the partitions but the name seems to imply only C is included.

What version of TrueImageHome are you using and which Windows operating system?

Grover,

Thank you for your reply. I am using Acronis True Image Home 2010 and Windows XP Professional (SP3).

When I ran the back up. I checked Disk 1 with 1 NTFS particition.

It looks like you have what you need to restore to a new disk. The only you really know is to perform a test restore or at the very least, simulate performing the restore (when booted from the TI Rescue CD). It can be simulation all the way to where you must choose either to CANCEL or PROCEED. Be sure and choose Cancel when practicing.
