backing up files not working

Thread needs solution

Please  can someone  shed  some  light  on  this  issue.

I  select  the  files  I  want  to  backup,   when  done  with  selection,   I  go  to   source  and  select  my  external  hard  drive  and  where    I  want   the  files  to  go.   Next  I  click on  backup  now.

It  immediately  goes  to   queue   mode    and   looks  like  it  is  working   but   9  hours  later  still nothing  happening.   This  is  not  what  I  expect  out  of  a  backup  program.    Can  anyone  tell  me  how   this  can  be  fixed.

ps   before  I  even  start  the  process  I  clean  out  my  prefetch  folder.

Thanks  for  any  help

Use this link as a guide and save the task as "non-scheduled" task.  After upi have created the task, then click the "run task now" option and see if it works.  The next you want the same backup to run again, just click the "run task now" option.

This link can help to explain how to configure a custom backup scheme so the program will delete the oldest backups automatically.

I   get  all  the  way  to  the   end  (almost)   and   choose  later then nothing  happens,   if  I  click  backup  now    it  goes  into  queue  mode.   I  have  tried  this  many  times  always  same  result.    I  have  version 2015

I   set  it  up  as  a   DO NOT  SCHEDULE.   and  choose  settings.    should  i  save  this  or  is  it  automatically  saved   before   I  go  to  the  next  step.

During task creating, when you click the "later" option, this is just saving the task with whatever settings you configured.

Now, when you want the backup to run, click he "Back up now" option and the backup should start.

If it goies into queque instead of starting, there is an issue with your installation of TrueImage.

If it goes into queque, there is a problem. Things which that can prevent the backup from starting would be such as

target disk not attached; or if you have set the task to only run when computer is idle.

You may want to consider to un-install using the TI cleanup utility at this link and then re-install again.

Thank you for  responding.  my   fear  of  un-install  and  re-install  is that  I  may  have  an  issue.   I  started   with   Acronis Home 2009   and  have   graduated  up  to  2015   with  issues.   re    SNs.   I  have  my  serial  numbers but  not  sure  what  previous  numbers  were  as  I  have  more  than  one  copy  of Acronis 2012,  I  bought new full version of 2014  plus an update  and  got free update for 2015.  I have  had  some  success  with  backups  but  not  often  and  I  do  not  want  to  give  up  on  the  program   It   seems  like  it  is  the  best  backup  program  available.  I  backup  to   3TB  External  Hard Drives  (have  4).

One  fear  I  have  is  on  the  left  side   where  you  click  on  backup,  these backup  tries   fill up  the  column  quickly  and   I  am  afraid  to   remove  any  of  them  in  case  I  will  not  be  able  to  recover  a  backup.  Today  I  tried  to  recover  a  file  I  backed  up  and  I  had  the  right  path  etc,  but   it   came  up  empty  but  when  I  clicked  on  the   tib  file   everything  was  there    so   I  am  puzzled   and  I   keep  a  separate  record  on  each  external  hard  drive  so  I  know  where  they  are.

Can  you  safely  delete   all  these backup  traces  in  the  left  column and  still  be  able  to  recover  the  backup  when  you  hook  up  the  external  hard  drive where  the  tib   backup  is?

So   If  you  can  assure  me  that  I  will  be  safe  in  uninstalling  and  reinstalling   I  will  give  it  a  go.   I  just do  not  want  to  loose  my  program.

Thanks  for  any  help  you  can  provide.

Since downloading the free upgrade to Windows 10, I haven't been able to carry out a "incremental" backup.

I keep getting a message that the "disk is not ready" some time after starting the backup.

I usually do a "Full" backup followed by 5 'Incremental' backups each 1 week apart. The 'Full' backup works, but the 'Incremental' backups won't.

Before I upgraded to 'Windows 10' everything appeared to be working fine - now it doesn't. I don't believe I am doing anything differently.

What can I do to fix this problem?

Stuat,

Stop using the old task and create a new task with a  new task name and pointing to a new storage folder or sub-folder.

Theresa,

Cannot offer assurances of deletion without problems.  Show us a screeen capture of your storage folder sorted in date/time order and we might be able to offer some suggestions.  We don't know what type backups you have nor what you want to delete.
