Backing up my Sytem with Acronis True Image Home 2011

Thread needs solution

Hi. I have Acronis True Image Home 2011. Also Windows 7 Pro. I bought a new 1TB portable HDD with a view to using it as backup destination, because I need to backup my whole system.

Reading the articles, this is what I understand:

* Need to download the ISO version of True Image and burn it on a CD. This allows me to run Acronis program from that disk, without having to start Windows.

* In the Acronis program, I need to go to "Disk and partition backup" and select "Switch to disk mode".

* Select the disk. (The disk does not need to be made bootable because I've got the bootable media disk).

* Select the destination for the backup. (Obviously my new 1TB HDD).

So, if my PC HDD fails, I put the bootable media into the CDROM drive, select the backup source (on my 1TB HDD). And recover my entire system.

Am I correct in my understanding? Thanks. Rich

I general yes. You may want to read this link in Grover's Guides https://forum.acronis.com/forum/38691 for more specifics about 2011.
