backup
I do a backup, it lists a file on my external hard drive H:, when I go to validate the file I get a message that states that the file is "Corrupted". did this 2 times ....what or how do I back up a validated good process?

Thanks Tuttle how do I run chkdsk on that H: Drive... a Western digital 2 terabyte external connected dirctly from the drive to a USB port

Right-click the drive icon | Properties | Tools | Error checking | Check now: select both options.
OR
In CMD: chkdsk H: /R
(substitute your drive letter for "H")

Ok came back from prop / tools / ck drive errors...with "Your device or disk was succesfully scanned" "No problems were found on the device or disk. It is ready to use.

Did you select both test options? It doesn't seem like there was enough time for the full check.

Check the USB cable. If you have another cable, try it. It wouldn't be the first time that a cable wasn't providing a solid connection. And try another USB port on the rear of the PC.
Try booting from the ATI2013 bootable Rescue Media and perform the validation from there.
You could also copy one of the .tib archives to your internal HD and try to validate it there. If it validates there but not on the external, then you'd know there's something wrong with the external or its connectionn to the PC.
