Backup to 3 different external hard drives

Thread needs solution

Hi
I have established a backup-task with 15 incrementals, before doing another full backup. the data is saved to an external usb-drive. For security reasons I exchange the external drive after one week with another one (alltogether 3 external drives, for exchanging every week)

I hoped, that this would work automatically, when exchanging drives, so acronis would notice, based on data on the backup's already existing on the external drives, what to do.
But when I exchanged the external drive now, and connected my second one, acronis does not start as I hoped with a full backup (because the new external drive is empty). It only does a little inremental, for the first external drive.
But my goal is to keep three separate backups. how could I easily and handable manage to do this?
thank you

You probably need to make 3 diff tasks.

If you want more control over what and when is kept, consider using Chain2Gen (C2G) which is a free helper program for TrueImage. C2G written by forum contributor MVP OracleDBA.

TrueImage Home does the backups and the scheduling. C2G helps you to retain your chosen number of backups and helps you to make sure that a full backup is taken when you want a full backup to be done. Only TrueImage can control the size of the backup but C2G can help you to retain your chosen number of backups. My signature link below contains more information.

C2G would provide the controls you need to create a new backup on the new disk.
C2G would also force a new backup based when a certain number of backups reached.

You would have a safer backup scenario if you changed from incremental to differential. In order to restore incremental #15, all prior 2-14 must be good (not corrupt). If any of the 2-14 are not readable, then the newer backups beginning with the corrupt one are all non-usable. Whereas, the differential only needs the single chosen differential plus the base full backup.

If you data has a great deal of photos, you may want to add additional coverage via different backup methods. Read item #12 inside my signature index below.

Using C2G, you should be able to do this with one task but I would suggest that you assign drive letters to the externals higher up the letter chain so that the insertion of a flash drive or camera does not cause the letter change to your backup disks.
