Backup And Restore To Different PC
Hi. I have registered Acronis 2009. I have PC. In my pc was Windows xp 2009. My PC HDD size was 160GB. I have backed up by copeing partition (160GB with windows xp 2009).I have restored that partition archive in my friends PC, whose PC's HDD size was 320GB. Restore Completed Sucessfully. But hear HDD size becomed 160GB (but hear HDD size was 320GB).So, how can i make backup, which will restored to any computer , but HDD size was stay normal, without any changes.

If you select 'disk' for restore, TI 2009 will create partition of the same size as it originally was. It will happen if you chose both partition and MBR to recover - disk will be checked automatically. Uncheck MBR and use 'change defaults' in 'partition size' section of 4-th step (settings of partition C:" to change its size to occupy the whole disk.

On your friend's computer, right click on my computer, choose manage, double click storage, then disk management.
You should see your disk and your partition. There is probably a big block of unallocated space. If C:\ is the last partition on the right, and there is unallocated space after it, then right click on C:\ and choose expand.
It would be great if you could create a screen capture of this and post it here.
If this works out, you won't have to do another restore.

это не "connected", это "joined" "appended", whatever. И нет, он не будет никуда присоединен, он превратится в "unallocated space" - пространство диска без разделов. А раз там раздела не будет, то и отформатировать его тем более будет нельзя, пока там не будет создан раздел.

Eliminate the quotes in your postings, that will rid them of the email address. Previously, the quote were showing the userID and now they show the email address... Not good...

Do you mean you want to merge 2 disks into one partition, or do you want to have 2 partitions on your restored disk?

To be clear, on your disk you want to have 2 partitions, right? One will be with the system C:\ and the other one for data, D:\ right?

The reason why I keep trying to clarify is that you use the word merge. If you want to merge 2 partitions, you need some other software to do that,
With ATI, you can restore the image of one partition, let's say C:\ and then, in a second pass, restore the *files* of D:\ onto C:\.
If when you say "merge" you mean your end result is a single disk with 2 partitions, then it is a different approach.
Please confirm which one you want.
