backup and restore outlook.pst

Thread needs solution

sorry if this has been asked and answered.
I am just starting to use true image and to test whether the outlook backup and restore work. I had setup the backup and let it run for a few days. I then renamed my outlook.pst file and tried a restore. I expected to get a restored outlook.pst file but I didn't. It seems to restore registry settings and other "things" that I don't understand. It shows the address book and personal folders. Do I need to create an empty outlook.pst file and then perform the restore so the pst file can be populated with those items?
I searched the forums and the documentation and couldn't find anything regarding the outlook.pst file that mentions restoring the file.

thanks for the help

John,

You should't have to create an empty outlook.pst file for the restore. ATI (Acronis True Image) should restore all the information by itself. There has been issues between 2011 and Outlook, but most of them were about failing backups.

You should contact ACronis customer support about your specific issue.

While Acronis is working on fixes, there are workarounds. The good thing in your case is that you would be able to restore specifically the .pst file from a disk and partition image. I hope you have one so that you can restore your system in case of disaster. You should try it to verify this works and does what you need after an outlook restore.
