Backup Compression - Faster Dual Core or Slower Quad Core?

Thread needs solution

I'm planing to upgrade my CPU. True Image is the only software I regularly use that actually makes full use of my current dual cores. Will the backup compression also make good use of 4 cores? In other words, would my backups be quicker with a slower quad core CPU or a faster dual core CPU?

Thanks for any comments, Garry.

Hello Garry,

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Let me answer your question and clarify the situation.

All modern OS's support quad core processors, you know that replacing processor will speed up system performance. The same thing can be applied to our software - it will create snapshots faster, compress the backups faster etc.

Actually, we haven't performed such comparing tests, but I'm sure that product will work faster.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you.

I can confirm that Acronis compression works faster with a slower Quad core than a faster dual-core. It seems to make full use of all the cores available to it and the difference can sometimes be dramatic.
