Backup error, BSOD
Yesterday I got the blue screen of death After an Acronis 14 backup with the message "kernel security check failed" in Windows 8.1 installed on a new (March 5) laptop computer. I use the classic start button etc since I have no need for Windows 8.1 which I realize now was a mistake. Anyway I could not create a fix for this BSOD, so I attempted to recover an Acronos 14 full backup performed March 15.
This resulted in a blue screen with a little circle rotating which multiple shutdowns and restarts would not reboot. The only way I was able to boot was with an Acronos rescue disk.
Finally, after fooling around (multiple reboots and multiple recoveries) with it I got into Windows with an older recovery file. I re-upped my data and everything seems normal. Since then, I have tried 3 times to create an Acronis backup and each time it ends up with a large orange bar and an event log with a red X.
In the event logger the red X is right under an identical filename with a green checkmark with the same time indication as the one with the red X. That is to say that with a single backup there are identical timed locations in the event logger except for the green checkmark and the red X denoting the identical filenames.
What is happening?
I will greatly appreciate advice. Thank you.
