Backup: 'excluding file' feature doesn't work
Hi all,
whenever I attempt to back up my hard drive (version chain), I try to exclude iTunes to shorten the process. It used to work that way but now the program backs up the entire hard drive, no matter what I flag as to be excluded in the backup settings.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

What does this mean? Do you try to exclude the iTunes folder?
I exclude my music based on file extension. I exclude the following from regular ATI images:
*.flac
*.m4a
*.mp3
It works. Otherwise, my .tib images would be enormous as I have 400 GB of music.
@Scott: The current build is 6151. I did not keep track if the ability to exclude an entire folder (iTunes) stopped working with a version change.
All I know is, that it used to work and now it doesn't. I have created a new task several times now (after deleting the old one) and TI still tries to back up the entire drive.
@Tuttle: You are correct, I excluded the entire iTunes folder and when I purchased the program 6 weeks ago, it worked. Like you, I have almost 400 GB of iTunes files (Music & lots of Video). iTunes is already backed up on a seperate external hard drive, so that I don't have to back up the entire enchilada over and over again. I'll give it a try to exclude the applicable file extensions.

and TI still gives me the >6 hour back up time that it usually takes to back up the *entire* drive (120 GB of data, 380 GB of music and video).
My next step is to install the latest build. If that doesn't do it's magic, I completely uninstall TI and re-install it. When I find the time, that is.
Great piece of software. I can't wait to rely on it in an emergency.
The projected time has no validity. What is the actual time it takes. In order to exclude the file, it has to look at each file anyway to see if it is to be excluded. Most likely, the time projected is not anywhere near the actual time.

I'm having the same problem... Excluded some folders and files, but Acronis TIH 2012 (Build 6154) just ignores this setting - see my screenshot: The folder D:\Images is excluded and all *.tib should be excluded. But all TIBs in D:\Images are backed up. Some weeks ago it still worked, and I'm sure that there was no update during the time it stopped working.
Already tried uninstalling and re-installing the whole Acronis (prior to this, I had build 6131, downloaded the 6154 today), deleted the task and created a new one with a different destination and different name. All these steps didn't help.
Any other suggestions?
I can't use Acronis this way because the images take around 8 hours to be built and require more than 600 gig of space.

Starte mal ATIH 2012, in der Backupliste den Backuptask suchen. Nach einem Rechtsklick mit der Maus auf dem Backuptask "Durchsuchen und wiederherstellen" auswählen. Oben links im Fenster auf "Dateien und Ordner" umschalten. Unten kann man verschiedene Zeitpunkte der Versionen kontrollieren. Ist dort der ausgeschlossene Ordner überall vorhanden?

Sind die gesicherten Partitionen auf einer Festplatte oder auf zwei Festplatten verteilt?
Wenn die Partitionen auf zwei Festplatten verteilt sind, würde ich pro Festplatte einen neuen Backuptask erstellen.

ja, Windows 7, 64-bit. Die gesicherten Partitionen sind auf zwei Platten verteilt: einer SSD (System-reserviert und C:) und auf einer normalen HDD (D:). Die HDD musste ich neulich wegen Plattenschaden austauschen, evtl. tritt das Problem seitdem auf, das kann ich aber nicht sicher sagen. "Merkt" ATIH sich irgendwelche HDD-Seriennummern oder so??

Meiner Meinung nach "Merkt" ATIH sich keine HDD-Seriennummern.
ATIH 2012 mag das ändern der Backupeinstellungen (Pfade, einstellungen) oder löschen von Backups nicht gerne, das kann sehr lange gut gehen, aber irgendwann ist die Database beschädigt.
Bei "Ausschließungen" kann man "Auf Anfangseinstellungen zurücksetzen" auswählen und mit OK speichern. Danach wieder die gewünschten Einstellungen machen (pro Festplatte).
Wenn man ATIH 2012 startet ist oben rechts ein Zahnrad, dort draufklicken und "Log anzeigen" auswählen.
Oben im Ereignis-Log bei "Zeitraum" und "Ereignisquelle" "Alle" auswählen.
Welche Meldungen kommen zum vorschein? Alles "Grün"?

Der Versuch mit nur einem Backuptask pro Festplatte hat auch nichts gebracht? Die vom Backup ausgeschlossenen .tib Images und die vom Backup ausgeschlossenen Ordner werden trotzdem gesichert (ausschließung ignoriert)?
Da bei mir .tib Images und ausgeschlossene Ordner nicht mitgesichert werden, fällt mir ausser ATIH 2012 neuinstallieren nichts mehr ein.

sorry, das mit den einzelnen Backup-Tasks hatte ich überlesen.
Habe es gestern mal ausprobiert: Auf C: werden dann die Ausschließungen berücksichtigt (!!), auf D: weiterhin nicht :-( Irgendwie hadert ATIH also mit der zweiten Platte. Alles ist weiterhin grün, im Log wird die Ausschließung sogar angezeigt.
Neu installiert habe ich ATIH schon, allerdings ohne das Cleanup Utility zu benutzen. Vielleicht probiere ich es nochmal damit, ansonsten muss ich wohl mal den Acronis-Support bemühen :-(

Ich würde versuchen bei D: einen neuen Backuptask mit Standard Einstellung ohne weitere ausgeschlossene Ordner probieren, um zu sehen ob die .tib Images jetzt ausgeschlossen werden.
Welche Virenschutzsoftware wird verwendet?
Edit: Ich habe mal ein Laufwerksbackup meiner Backupfestplatte mit 830 GB Daten, davon 282 GB Acronis .tib Images gemacht, der Zielspeicherort des Images war eine USB3.0 Festplatte.
In meinem Backup sind alle Ordner wo .tib Images drin waren leer.
