Backup "Failed to deploy task"

Thread needs solution

TI15 build 6613 on Windows 8.1 refuses to start backup and suggests restart and disable antivirus.

I have disabled every program which appears on the 8.1 Action Center list and restarted with no help.  I began with backup to my wireless network HD and then tried it with a small partition to a hard wired HD.  Same result.  Where do I look to cure the problem?

Thanks,  Ken Hammer

Kenneth, I have a similar problem that only started today with my system. I have True Image Home 2015 on a Windows 7 system and running Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus. Today when I went to do my weekly backup of C Drive I got the message 'Failed to deploy task. Restart your computer and try again. If the error persists, check your antivirus settings.' I restarted to no avail. Same message. I think I am supposed to add some of the Acronis files into my antivirus 'exceptions' area but which files? Maybe the answer to your problem will fix mine also. Will watch with baited breath.

Thanks in anticipation,

PeteC

Kenneth & Pete,

I just did a backup using ATI2016, and I am hoping the ATI2015 uses the same Acronis files...

Using Windows Task Manager, I located the System level processes ATI spawns to perform the backup.  For ATI2016, the processes are:

TrueImageHomeNotify.exe
TrueImageHomeService.exe

They are located in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome

So, you could exempt those 2 in your anti-virus program and see what happens.

Please let me know if this works.

Regards,

FtrPilot

I disabled Windos Defender

I allowed TrueImageHomeNotify.exe and TrueImageHomeService.exe in MalwareBytes

I did the same for Windows Firewall but when it reports the condition is tabulates them as TrueImageNotify.exe and TrueImageService.exs (omitting the Home part of the file name).

I still get the "Failed to deploy Task" notice.  This is before and after reboot.

FtrPilot and Ken,

I neglected to say in my original post that I had disabled Acronis Scheduler. I did this to stop all the annoying comment Acronis kept putting in the bottom right of my screen and also hanging at shut down. That action worked for this purpose. But I took a punt and re-allowed Scheduler to install at startup and behold Acronis is working again as designed. So it looks like I will have to put up with these nags and hangups. Mybe you have done the same thing.

Thanks for the comment and tips. I shall keep these in mind if I have any more problems.
