Backup failed due to failure to find disk

Thread needs solution

Sorry about the Title, but here's what has happened.

I am using Acronis 2009 and making a weekly incremental backup of my C drive, labeled C071009. This has been functioning correctly since July of 2009. It has been making consolidations as it went along and I have been able to restore correctly as late as yesterday. After yesterday's restore, Acronis began an incremental backup which failed during the consolidate phase (3 of 3) stating that it was unable to find disk 3 and I should browse to specify its location. I tried to tell it that C0710093 was the proper location, but alas, it would not accept that answer and even seems to have made C0710093 a full backup. NOTE: All of the backups in this series are listed under the bold directory of C0710096. Now there is a new bold heading of C0710097 showing an incremental backup dated 2/11/2010.

Boy am I confused! I now have:
{BOLD} C0710093
C0710093 dated 2/15/2010 Labeled Full Backup
{BOLD} C0910097
C0710073 dated 2/11/2010 Labeled incremental backup
{BOLD} C0710096
C071009 dated 1/16/2020 Labeled Full Backup
C0710092 dated 1/23/2010 Labeled incremental backup
C0710094 dated 1/31/2010 Labeled incremental backup
C0710095 dated 1/13/2010 Labeled incremental backup
C0710096 dated 1/16/2010 Labeled incremental backup

Are any of these any good or now corrupted and should I start over and delete C071009?

It is difficult to say what the net result actually is. I would copy the two recent full backups into a new folder and then validate them when booted from the TI Rescue CD.

If the above validates without issue, I would start over with a new task and a new folder.

If I understand correctly, consolidation is an ongoing issue with TI. My suggestion for a permanent solution would be to use oracledba's Chain2Gen http://forum.acronis.com/forum/5940

A TrueImage task does the scheduling and backup creation. Chain2Gen is a helper program which help the user to preserve the proper number of backups and to assure that you get full backups at the user desired internal. C2G is easy to install and setup. I suggest that you investigate it as a stable solution to your issues of consolidation.

Well, it took me a while, dense as I am, but I got it all set up and Chain2Gen is working perfectly. Thanks to you guys for all the effort in writing and testing this app. It certainly relieves my mind and I am thinking of other ways that I can use it to protect my other systems.

Robert,
I'm glad you got it working. Getting it set up looks harder than it really is.

If you looking for another successful program, have you looked at Drive Notify. Using it sure beats trying to remember when to attach the external drives, etc. Using it makes backing up to an external drive soo easy.
