backup fails almost immediately

I'm not very computer savvy, but I have been backing up my computer for the last couple of years to ATI 9 with no problems. Fortunately I've never had to try and restore anything.
Recently when I try to do a backup, I get a message almost immediately saying backup completed with errors. The log says something about unable to create volume snapshot.

Does anyone have any ideas?

If it's the same computer and the same version of ATI, then I would suspect that the drive is starting to have cluster problems. Run chkdsk /r on the drive. You'll be prompted to restart for the process to run.
