Backup jobs randomly fail
I have a problem with Acronis keeping track of the destination folder or target file in that folder with some of my backup jobs resulting in that job failing to continue.
We have two win 8.1 computers networked together by cable & router and two external hard drives connected to the better computer by USB ports. The newer faster ext. drive connected to a USB3 port.
I may be pushing the limits of Acronis as I have both computers doing 4 backup jobs each through the better computer as follows.
Each backs up it's data daily to the newer external 2TB drive
Each backs up it's system weekly to the same 2TB external drive
Each backs up it's data weekly to the older 1TB ext. drive
Each backs up it's system monthly to the older 1TB ext. drive.
The use of the older drive is probably redundant but I have it and this makes sense to me.
I have all jobs scheduled for separate times & days and at either times of low use or when a computer is asleep or hibernating.
Each external drive has folders for each separate backup job so there are 4 folders in each drive.
The majority of jobs run flawlessly over the months and just a couple I have trouble with. The troubled jobs can occur on either drive. I will reset them up & they will start to run for a couple of of their routines or a month then come up with an error statement something to the effect of “Can't find the destination file”.
All jobs are programmed to do incremental backups 3 to 5 times before starting over. Then erasing those older than about 5 cycles.
Does any one have any suggestions that can help.
Keith
