Backup keeps stalling / won't delete old backups.

Thread needs solution

Below is the error message. I'm running 3 USB3.0 back up drives which I rotate each night.

I've included a screen shot of the back up retention settings.

I think it is failing as it cannot find all of the backups to delete before starting the new one. (As they are on drives not currently plugged in).

What I need it to do is delete the whole of the USB drive or just the old back ups on it then start a new backup.

My disks Task is waiting for user interaction.
Description: Stage Description
Information: Failed to open backup E:\My_disks_full_b1_s1_v1.tib. Make sure the backup location is accessible and contains all versions of the backup. This backup may also be corrupted.
Details: Click Retry to try to read from the same location. Otherwise, click Cancel to cancel the operation.

Any help on this would be great thanks.

Ian

It sounds like it can't find the target. Try this, delete or copy to some other location any existing backups. But first test the target disk to be sure there are no disk error probs. Try to validate the backups to ensure they are not corrupt.

Select restore, and for each missing backup it should tell you it can't find it and offer some choices, select ignore. Continue this until you have "Ignored" all missing backups. This should reset ATI's database so it knows the backups are gone.

I'd set up three tasks, one for each target drive. Then Ati won't get confused.

As MVP Scott Hieber has indicated, Each target disk needs its own individual backup task. Here is reference.
