Backup Locations question...I'm wondering...
I like the option of creating a new "Backup Location" folder, that allows quotas and limits as to the number of backups and their size, and the automatic deletion of the "oldest" backup will save huge amounts of space on my external drive...I'm setting up a backup schedule for a writer, and she requires daily backups. I've set ATI 10 up to run a monthly FULL backup, and DAILY incremental backups...here's the question; If I create a Backup Location folder on my external (Z:) drive for the FULL backups, can I set the DAILY backups to go into the same folder? If anyone has done this in a similar manner previously, I'm all ears...and thanks in advance.

You may want to consider Chain2Gen. See http://forum.acronis.com/forum/3426 Section 3A.

Hey Scott,
Thanks for the info, and apologies for my ignorance...you refer to "incs"...meaning incrementals? Are you saying that when using Backup Location, by default you get a Full and incrementals of a specified number, and then once that number is reached, it creates a Full again? More complicated is NOT what I'm after. simple is the way, and the simpler the better for my writer... I've also received a suggestion to use "Chain2Gen" along with ATI 10...I'd prefer to only use ATI 10...any thoughts there ?..., and thanks for your insight.

Thanks thomasjk...I'm going to look into that as well, although I'd prefer to use only ATI 10....

That's the way ATI10 works. When you define your backup task, you tell it how many incs tomake before it creates a new full. The full and all the subsequent incs are a set; you need the whole set for a restore.
When yoo create a backup task and tell it to back up to Backup Location, then you get a screen where you specify whether to only make Fulls or to make Incs and how many incs to make before it makes a new full. IIRC, the incs are left behind and gradually overwritten.
As of ATI 2009, the process is a bit diff, but you can get it to accomplish essentially the same thing.
If you separately want a full, keep that in a separate location.
Using Chaingen is favored by some folks because it provides a lot of flexibility; for what it sounds like you want, it would be simpler to just use ATI Backup Locations and ATI Tasks. One Backup Location and Task for the separate Full, if you want one and a Backup Location and Task for the inc set.
good luck,
sh
