Backup in a loop?

Thread needs solution

Using Acronis Trueimage 2015 - Build No 6525 - Win 7 64bit
Recently updated to 2015 version.
I ran a hdd backup all night - approx 150Gb - to an external hard drive that has been used with previous versions of AT. The backup "appeared" to be working - at the top it said " Backing up " and the lights between the FILES and EXTERNAL DRIVE were indicating activity.
Got fedup with waiting so cancelled operation.
Tried same procedure with a 20kb file - after 1/2 hour gave that up.
Tried sending same file to the Cloud - same result as above
Other than the dots of light travelling between source and target and the "Backing up" statement there is no indication of progress being made. At the bottom of the screen "QUEUED" seems to be grayed out.
Any help or advice would be appreciated

Make sure you create new backup tasks to empty directories. You can keep your older TIB files, and move them to another directory on the same disk to avoid a long file copy. Then delete your existing tasks and create new ones.

If that doesn't solve your issue, delete your current tasks as above, uninstall, reboot and reinstall.

Thanks Pat. I've uninstalled Acronis, downloaded the prog but failing to get it to install. Much the same story as last time. I'll persevere but I have to say that I hope all of this is worthwhile. I'll let you know

Pat - after 4 failed attempts to instal - Success! Managed to backup a file.

It tells us that Acronis True Image 2015 includes Universal Restore, WinPE bootable media and dynamic disc support. Does this mean that I do not have to download and install Acronis True Image 2015 - Universal Restore?
Thanks for the help

Acronis has separated the universal restore option.

You download the Universal Restore ISO from your Acronis.com account and create another bootable CD, or even better, use YUMI to create a bootable USB flash drive that can boot on either the normal recovery ISO or the Universal Restore IO.

In effect, Universal Restore is now a two step process. First step is to restore the image on the target machine using the regular media. The next step is to boot the target machine with the Universal Boot media, select the target machine OS and add the chipset and other disk controllers drivers needed to update the drivers of the target machine.

From other posts, I understand you can also install Universal Restore on your PC and create the recovery media using universal restore application. You'd have to select both "applications" when you create the recovery media. This will create a single ISO file that you can burn to a CD or boot into a bootable USB flash drive prepared with YUMI or similar tool. The difference with the previous method is that Acronis create a single ISO, instead of you making a bootable USB flash drive that can boot in 2 different ISOs. I didn't try that method.

Thanks very much for your assistance Pat. I aspire to your depth of knowledge! I fear that that may be some time hence given my record re failed installation attempts. Thanks again
