Backup Metadata library

Thread needs solution

Hi All,
Does anyone know how to rebuild the backup metadata "library"?
I am a relatively new user and have created and deleted a number of backups of my system now using both the wrong and the right methods. Now I just want to clean it all up.

All of the old tasks are gone but how can I be sure the metadata is still correct? I thought a rebuild option would be nice but can only find an option in the settings for the Backup and Recovery tab to "update backup list". Is this it?

Also and somewhat related, is there a succinct guide to deleting backup versions?
Whenever I use the documented process of Recover / Versions and then try to right click and delete from the timeline, the delete option is not shown?

Thx in advance.

When inside the Backup Explorer timeline and you right click on a specific file from the timeline, the delete option should appear as in this example.

The metadata is stored in the database folder as archives.xml. Here is the xp path.
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Database\archives.xml

A deletion (or rename to old-archives.xml) of this file deletes all program references to your tasks and backups but does not delete the actual backups. A deletion of this xml file would require all tasks be recreated as new. Some user delete this whenever they want to start fresh with new tasks and new storage folders. If you choose this method, you might want to have a current backup that you could restore if you wanted to undo the deletion of this xml file.

The only tasks which need to appear on your main gui task listing is the tasks in active use. All your backup files do not need to appear on this task listing in order to be restorable. Whenever a restore is needed, boot from the TI Recovery CD and browse to and select the tib file to be restored.

Thanks. I have the same probllem since the trial version but I upgraded anyway. The "Update Backup List" function does not do anything in my case. I have created 4 versions of partition back-up and the program says I have 7 versons! Deleting a backup version from the timeline deletes the wrong files. I have 3 versions of file backups and the list says "not backed-up yet".

The backup filename assigned to one task had been wrongly assigned to another task.

Please correct this problem.....
