Backup not proceeding

Thread needs solution

I've been running Acronis True Image Home 2010 for a while. Recently it seems to have stopped backing up. More precisely it seems to stall out during a backup. It started a backup of my Documents folder on 6/3 and is only 7% complete with no progress for days. There is no information available anywhere as to its progress. The log just says it started the backup.
I tried running the Acronis Report application, but it says I don't have enough privileges to run the application. The report generated is two lines long: ReportDisks Ok and reportOss ok.

So this software has become basically useless since it isn't working and there doesn't seem to be a way to find out what it is doing. I'm running on Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit.

Have you tried canceling the current backup, rebooting, and seeing if it would run normally?

Does backup of a different folder work correctly?

What build of TI are you using? If it's not the most current (7,046), you might consider updating.

I didn't see any way to cancel the backup. I killed Acronis and have rebooted and let it run several times. It seems to stop at 7%. But I can't find a log to tell me what is going on. There was no folder produced on the backup disk. I'm running 7046. I had no problems until I "upgraded" to 7046. This behavior makes the software unacceptable as a backup tool.

What was the previous build you were using?

If you just installed 7,046 over the previous build, you might want to uninstall, do a clean up, and then reinstall. Sometimes installing over an existing version doesn't work well.

I followed the instructions and did the uninstall and reinstall as directed. I don't remember the previous build number. I guess I'll try uninstalling and reinstall again to see what happens. Pretty annoying.
