BackUp not working

Hi ... I just bought the latest version home 2012 and I did downloaded the latest build from your website today ( 5545 ) ... Every time I try to do a backup of my system ( operating system ) unto my external drive it will reboot my system . I can never get it to start the process . Please help .

BTW I am trying to back up windows xp pro sp3 its a 250 gb hard drive with 23 gb used space unto a 500 gb external hard drive with over 187gb of free space . Everything is up to date and I have done scans with my anti-virus program, also SuperAntispyware / Malwarebytes programs , everything come back clean .

Ok , just an update . I finally got to backup my system it took 5 tries . I also tested to see if I could restore it . I was able to restore it as well but it does take a while to load . I do believe more work needs to be done with this version . Thanks
