Backup only works when I check on "ignore bad sectors"?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I backup to an external WD USB 3.0 hard drive that I just purchased, and the only way I can get the backup to successfully finish is by checking on "ignore bad sectors". If I have this checked off my backup fails and I keep receiving the "can't read hard disk" error.

Is my backup valid when I use the "ignore bad sectors" option?

As long as Acronis skips over these bad sectors when doing the backup I don't care as long as the backup is good and I can recover from it.

Thank you!

Run chkdsk /r on each partition of the internal drive, and on the external HD. If there are hidden partitions, assign letters to them so you can chkdsk.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case.
