Backup from router attached HD to another router attached HD
I don't save any data to either of my two laptops; all data is saved to a WD My Cloud attached to my router via Ethernet cable. Also attached to the router via Ethernet is a WD My Book Live. Both WD drives are 2TB and network mapped to the laptops.
I'm trying to backup the WD My Cloud data to the WD My Book Live using Acronis True Image 2014 Premium. Does my Acronis software support what I am trying to do?

Hi shadowsports,
Thanks for replying. I'm using UNC path and accounts will full permissions on both WD drives. The software has been registered so I tried getting help from Acronis but they only support the current version (2016) and the previous version (2015), not 2014. Do you think I have to pay a "subscription" fee to use the software?
Since my OP I have discovered SafePoint on the WD drives and have implemented that. SafePoint backs up data from one drive to the other and doesn't require either laptop to be "on" for the backup to work. The backed up data is viewable in File Explorer format, another great feature. Now the two drives contain my original data and a back up set; next I'll implement SafePoint to a third drive attached to the router via USB for removal and off-site storage.

Hi Robart6,
Are you still using ATI 2014 for your backups? If so, are you making any backups to the WD My Cloud? If so, that's my environment, where I am backing up files from my USB drives to the WD My Cloud. My problem is that when I make a backup I get a very high Internet download usage. Have you had the same problem? I don't know if the problem is with Acronis TrueImage, WD My Cloud, or the router from my Internet supplier (Rogers). Your post has made me aware that the WD My Cloud can operate independently and maybe it is the source of the usage.

Hi Garlin007,
Sorry, I'm not using ATI 2014 for my backups. My configuration is a bit different than yours; all my data is on external drives networked through my router. Not sure why, but ATI didn't recognize my external drive as a source, therefore, I couldn't perform a backup. Both my WD external drives have SafePoint so I backup my primary drive to my secondary drive using SafePoint - - - very easy, very efficient, and works even when the laptops are not "on".
I don't know enough about ATI to be of any help with that. I don't think the problem is WD MyCloud because it would only be receiving data, not sending anything. If I had to guess, I'd think it might be your antivirus software checking every packet as it is sent.
Wish I could be more helpful. If I ever come across something that I think might help you, I'll forward it.
