Backup saved to local directory instead of network drive

Thread needs solution

I just started doing scheduled backups of our production server to a network storage device. They have been reported as successful for about 2 weeks, but over the weekend I noticed I did not get a confirmation of the backup for one session. I found that Acronis had created a backup image on the local volume that was timestamped for the session that was missed.

Does True Image default to a local directory if it can't reach a networked device? Is there any reason to keep the locally stored backup. It is using up 30GB of needed space and it kind of defeats the purpose of backing up if the backup image is stored locally.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Depending on what version of TI you have this can happen if you have either dual location enabled, tried to edit a task when the backup storage wasn't available or as you have suggested the backup storage wasn't available tried to run a scheduled task.

I take it that it stored in a folder called My Backups in the My Documents folder?

If it is now behaving, then I suggest making a new full image and then delete the local image file. If you have incrementals enabled then the file on your local machine will be needed, if differentials then it won't, if a full image then no.

Hello all,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

BGV,

I would like to add that you should delete the present task and create a new one. If the backup storage wasn't available the task could be modified, and the next backup file can be placed to the local hard drive also.

Thank you.

What exactly is dual location enabled. This looks like my problem but i have never scheduled a backup other than the network hard drive.
