Backup Stops after a few days
The problem:
After a few days (5-10) the backup will stop running.
The 'backup now' button will do nothing.
No logs are created after the last successful backup.
In addition Windows explorer generates a crash when right-clicking a drive (signature attached). This perseveres until Acronis is uninstalled then the error stops until the backup error re-occurs. I have verified it is Acronis by disabling Context handlers (this also fixes the error) - see Shellex image attached:
Restarting the scheduler service can on occasion allow the backup now button to function but windows will generate a "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute. Please save your work now." error within seconds.
I have 2 backups created. One Partition clone 2 days a week to an internal drive and a custom file backup daily to an external drive. The Partition backup is a full and the file backup is a custom incremental with full every 5 days.
The only solution I have found thus far is to uninstall and re-install True Image.
After installation windows explorer no longer crashes and the I can create a new backup (Reading backup properties from an existing backup does not work so I need to select all my files and folders and set all backup properties again).
The backup runs happily for a few days then just stops.
It appears that there may be a correlation to the issue starting when my machine is powered off when a schedule should happen (Power failure). Miss one schedule True Image broken.
I am getting a little frustrated as I cannot trust the backups running. I need to keep checking that the backups have run, and if they have not run then do an uninstall and reinstall.
The only errors in the log are sync errors which I believe are unrelated:
GetSyncRelativePath SyncAPI call finished with error.
Searching the KB of course yields no results.

Did you update from TIH 2012?
It looks as though some 2012 files have not been overwritten with a 2013 install. If that is the case I suggest uninstall 2013, running the 2013 cleaner, reboot, then install 2013 again.
The Acronis Cleaner is found here
If 2013 is the upgrade version you will need your 2012 serial number in addition to your 2013 one at the install stage.

No. This was a new purchase and install of 2013.
I have also uninstalled, run the cleaner , installed 3 times so far.
Each time works for a few days then broken.

OK, I was thrown by the fact Acronis appear not to have updated the name of the shellex extension to 2013. What happens if you de-integrate 2013 from Explorer?
Is there any other process running each time this happens?
Have you checked to see that your AV/Firewall isn't disliking TI 2013 for any reason?
Does this only happen with file backups and not with disk/partition images?
Have you tried downloading the proxy patch (this is meant for windows 8 systems, but might help with your problem)

I have applied the proxy patch but it has not removed the problem. I am happy disabling those 2 context handlers (which by the way actually do not disable The shell extensions - the True Image Context menu is still there and functional). My biggest issue is the non-functional scheduler.
After a clean boot no schedule works.
Disk backups 'Backup Now' are non functional.
Partition Backups 'Backup Now' are functional.
Restart the Acronis Scheduler2 Service:
The schedules work (tested on new test jobs)
Disk backups 'Backup Now' are functional.
Partition Backups 'Backup Now' are functional.
Firewall:
I am not sure if my firewall (Agnitum Outpost) is interfering since after a clean install of Acronis it runs great until the scheduler just stops a few days later (after what I believe is the machine being powered off when a schedule should run).

Does the Scheduler2 service stop by itself when you get the problem?

No.
The service is running and there is no indication that there is a problem other than nothing happens. It seems that after a period of time the service
There are no errors in the event log and no Acronis errors other than the sync errors which occur on different days.
(sync error: GetSyncRelativePath SyncAPI call finished with error.
I am led to believe that this is normal? and should be ignored according to other posts as this is a known bug)
There are also none of these errors at the same time as the other errors after a reboot when the service is 'dormant' (i.e. non functional).

Does anything show up in Windows Event Manager?
I thought I'd seen an updated scheduler available for some users, but I can't find the link at the moment, so I could be mistaken.

No errors in the System or Application log.
I also thought I saw a scheduler update when looking for this issue last month (could not find it now) but this was related to 2012 version so I ignored it.
On restart Service:
"The Acronis Scheduler2 Service service entered the running state."
1 warning in System log:
Custom dynamic link libraries are being loaded for every application. The system administrator should review the list of libraries to ensure they are related to trusted applications.
The DLL in question is the Agnitum Firewall DLL that gets attached for sandbox/anti-leak purposes and is normal.
